Paparazzi: Don’t ever try it!
It was Fashion Week at London. On Monday night, I was invited with another journalist and my son Emilio to have dinner at the Cipriani Restaurant. A bunch of paparazzis where at the front door as we arrived. We guessed somebody “important” was inside or was about to get there. And there he goes! Roberto Cavalli, the italian fashion designer, arrived few minutes after us, surrounded by a group of young ladies.
They were sited at a table close to ours. Instead of getting an un-official picture of him, I got up and approached Mr. Cavalli. I asked, in my perfect ”itagnolo”, if I could have a picture with him. He didn’t opposed, though he was not really amussed by the idea. I asked the only other male in the table to take it, and here it is.
A few minutes later, a beautiful girl join the group. She resembled Natalie Portman big time. So, you can immagine Emilio was now interested to get a picture of her. As I was in the best spot to get a picture of her, he asked me to shoot. After several unsuccessful attempts, the young model noticed my intention and she avoided the camara. But that was not all. One of the other ladies got mad, so she turned around (her back was facing us) and shout at me to stop bothering. I was so embarrased…! and felt really bad. I guessed I turned red.
When we were about to leave, so were they. At the front door I apologized to her, and she said, “well, if at least you would’ve asked…” Now I understand the tough life of Paparazzis.
